Postdoctoral/Faculty Fellowships Available

We invite applications for (a) one postdoctoral/faculty fellowship funded by a DoD critical infrastructure protection and information assurance fellows (CIPIAF) award, and (b) one postdoctoral position funded by a DoD University Research Initiative (URI) award in the area of Critical Infrastructure Protection and High Confidence Software (CIP/SW). These awards are both prestigious, with only 12 CIPIAF and 20 URI awards having been made nationwide. The positions are available immediately for a period of one to two years at an annual salary between $65,000 and $85,000. Salaries for faculty fellows can be higher.

The CIPIAF fellowship is aimed at attracting new researchers into the CIP/IA area. Our project will explore the use of formal methods and programming languages research for intrusion detection, and related problems in computer and network security/survivability. The fellow will work with researchers in the Secure and Reliable Systems Group, and can leverage the strength of Stony Brook's nationally renowned research in the related fields of formal methods and declarative programming. The CIPIAF fellowship is limited to U.S. nationals.

The CIP/SW fellow will work with researchers from Stony Brook’s Secure and Reliable Systems Group and Formal Methods Group. The theme of our CIP/SW project is Model-Carrying Code (MCC), a new approach for ensuring security of mobile code.  The MCC approach employs a combination of compile-time verification and runtime monitoring/enforcement techniques.  More details about the MCC project can be found at http://seclab.cs.sunysb.edu/mcc

Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree at the time of appointment. In addition,  faculty fellowship candidates must currently hold a faculty position. Strong background in programming, and/or UNIX operating systems would be preferred. Applications should be forwarded to
